Documentary Release

Our friend Carmine, is a multimedia extrordinaire and decided he wanted to help. Over a year and 2 continents, Carmine has put together a documentary about FA, me and 4 great mates and how they are helping and raising awareness of Friedreich's Ataxia.

This has been put together to raise awareness of FA. So if you want to have a DVD night in or you know a network of people who are interested and may want to help us, go to the Contacts page and send me an email with address details and I will organise for a copy to be sent to you.

"Diagnosed at the age of 18 with Cardiomyopathy and then at the age of 30 with a rare neurological condition called Friedreich's Ataxia (FA), Cathy has seen these hurdles as a challenge rather than a barrier. Friedreich's Ataxia is a progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects balance, co-ordination, movement and sensation. For most, progressive loss of muscle strength and control leads to motor incapacitation and full time use of a wheelchair by the late teens or early twenties. The mental capabilities of people living with Friedreich's Ataxia, however, remain completely intact. Many require surgery for their Scoliosos and there is currently no cure ... Cathy now 40 years of age is still working full time, drives a car, has recently completed her second degree (Honours) in Information Technology, lives independently and has established a charity (Friedreich's Ataxia Network) to provide support to FA sufferers and their families.

Cathy has travelled to over 60 countries - from Mt Everest base camp to Machu Picchu, 'Traveling is the most precious, life learning, life fulfilling and humbling experience that an individual can encounter. While ever my legs have some sort of functionality I will contine to 'wobble' the globe, and when my legs will no longer carry me, I will use donkeys and camels to keep moving'. An unforgettable story about one courageous Australian and her friends who are raising awareness and offering support for another 450 Australians who are living with Friedreich's Ataxia.

Be moved and inspired... share Cathy's story."
